Fact is only 20% of southern whites owned slaves. So your tellin me the rest fought so this 20% could keep them. No of course not they had other issues with the north. Further more Abe’s first and foremost concern was a Union left intact other issue’s he used simply to progress the war even still they were enough to get the job done. good issues as well

Lincoln was running in one of the most racist Northern states in the Union, a state so racist that free blacks weren’t even allowed to live in the state. You think he might have tailored his message to the audience? And if you look at the speeches that Lincoln gave in southern Illinois, the most racist part of the state, they are remarkably different from what he said in the northern part of the state.

And I love how you categorized the bloody Vice President of the Confederate States of America as “ONE southern racist politician”; of course, what does the Vice President know? *eye roll*
