Oh, and rights? You must be kidding again!!!!!! He has more rights than my daughter ever had, and he also has more rights than her family has, even now……..Where was god when this monster was raping and beating my daughter to death? Please Please answer that!!!!!!!! ALL part of Gods plan? There was NO REASON for this and he has plenty of rights and plenty of appeals and hasn’t even gone to trial yet…..your opion discusts me!

all well said, but have you had a daughter or son brutally murdered????? If someone admits to aweful brutal acts, it was premeditated and a monster confesses to it…..then why do they deserve to live? eat? breath? visit their loved ones?….seriously are you kidding? Everything happens for a reason, I hear that all the time……There is NO REASON for a “person” to brutally attack and mutilate another human being!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would not wish this one anyone, but if this happened to your loved one….I’m sure your opion would change, and you would not say everything HAPPENS FOR A REASON! I knew the Harveys, they were our friends and neighbors. We lived across the street. We were there that day, we called the fire department. I stood watching as Kathy and dear little Ruby were pulled out of the basement door and placed in the grass beside the herb garden. I saw these thing with my own eyes… I can never forget.

I known such anger… and such hatred… I understand the desire for vengeance and retribution. Part of me would like to kill them with my bare hands… with knife and hammer for what they did to this beautiful family. Every day for nearly two years I had to look at that dark and empty house every day. I can’t explain what this does to a person. it changes you forever.

But I do know this… vengeance gives nothing… it is an empty bowl that cannot be filled. Part of me what Gray to die and yet I know that it offers no answer… it will never bring back little Stella and Ruby… or Bryan and Kathy.

It does no good to cast judgment… and I know in my heart the Bryan, Kathryn, Stella and Ruby would not want this… not in their name. They were all about love… and life… and light.

When this event took place I was a Corporal at the Marine Barracks Washington D.C.. I was also present during the trial as I was a Chaser/Bailiff from their unit as required. I am not defending what these Marines did. I also would not classify it as a hate crime. You had a group of young men on a Saturday night. One pulls out a (stolen) CS Grenade and shows his friends. Someone gets the stupid idea to use it. During my time of escorting the men I heard the story many times. All stated that they did not know it was a gay establishment. I believe this. I think it was wrong to have done it anywhere it might have caused injury to someone.
Out of the five, four where given bad conduct discharges. Only one stood up and said he was wrong in what he had done and that felt regret for putting someone in danger and embarrassing the Marine Corps. This individual was demoted to E-1/Private but allowed to stay in the Marine Corps. Point of fact he did not throw the grenade nor steal it.
Also I want to clarify that the time of confinement was time served while awaiting trial. No time was given to follow the court proceedings.
These young men did a stupid thing and they paid for it severely. I hope today that the four who were discharged have matured and are serving society in a beneficial way. If Deputy Sherif Nutter is serving his community and has done so in a commendable way, I fail to see why this is a matter. Has he done anything during his time at the Sherif’s office that should be questioned?
